It’s only right that our first blog explains the reasoning behind launching a blog — and what to expect from us going forward.

Newgate Social has now been open for 10 months, and I thought it was about time we let these walls tell their stories through the magic of an online blog. With grassroots at our heart, we’re here to share stories, reviews, and interviews from North East bands and artists.

Why We’re Doing This

Over the past 10 months, our stage has been home to bands from all walks: local legends, grassroots artists, and even the odd tribute here and there.

But there’s more to the scene than gig posters and ticket links.

This blog is where I get under the surface — spotlighting the acts we’re booking, digging into the stories behind the songs, and flying the flag for live music in Newcastle and across the North East.

First Things First

Our first few blogs will shine a spotlight on some new (and old) faces who’ve graced the Newgate stage. I may or may not have been sent an exclusive link to a debut EP from my new favourite band — which I’ll be diving straight into.

From there? In all honesty, I’m not sure exactly where this blog will go — whether I’ll stick to artist spotlights, interviews, or behind-the-scenes talk.
But stick with me, and I’m sure it’ll be a blast.
